SUMMARY:Apples and Train Tracks by Arnolda Dufour Bowes
DESCRIPTION:Directed by Roxanne Dicke with dramaturgy by Daniel Macdonald. \nFinding love and self following the aftermath of Road Allowance Métis displacement.  \nInspired by the playwright's father\, who lived as a Road Allowance Métis haunted by memories of his community being forced into railcars and shipped away\, Charlie wrestles with the consequences of intergenerational trauma as he fights to forge a new legacy of love with his wife\, Rose. In 1940\, the government of Tommy Douglas began a campaign to eradicate Métis Road Allowance Communities\, sending their residents to remote Rehabilitation Farms in northern Saskatchewan. \nNow in his mid-thirties\, Charlie finds himself at a crossroads in his work\, his purpose\, and his marriage. Bewildered by flashbacks of his mother\, Bella\, and haunted by the riddles of a seemingly homeless yet mystical woman\, Charlie searches for what he's been chasing—or running from: his uncertain future and the community home he lost. \nAbout the Playwright: \nArnolda Dufour Bowes is a creative artist\, emerging playwright\, and multi-award-winning author of multiple books and stories. Her work 20.12m: A Short Story Collection of a Life Lived as a Road Allowance Métis inspired this play\, which explores a fictionalized account of her Kokum and father's experiences when the 1946 Saskatchewan government imposed the Métis Rehabilitation Farms and forcibly removed families from Road Allowances to Green Lake in the north. Development of this new script has been supported by GTNT's New Voices writers-in-residence program and Burnt Thicket Theatre. Arnolda Dufour Bowes' award-winning book 20.12m\, available at bookstores\, birthed both the play Apples and Train Tracks and her multi-sensory art installation of the same name\, exhibited recently at Batoche National Historic Site in 2025. \nAudience Advisory: This production was not created for young audiences\, although children are welcome to attend at the discretion of their guardian. Contains some coarse language and mature themes.  \nAudio Described Performance: May 3rd at 2pm\nASL Interpretated Performance: May 8th at 7:30pm \nPerformances: \n\nThursday April 30th @ 7:30pm (Preview Night)\nFriday May 1st @ 7:30pm (Opening Night)\nSaturday May 2nd @ 7:30pm\nSunday May 3rd @ 2pm (Audio Described Performance)\nThursday May 7th @ 7:30pm\nFriday May 8th @ 7:30pm (ASL Interpreted Performance)\nSaturday May 9th @ 7:30pm\nSunday May 10th @ 2pm\n\nAll tickets are Pay What You Choose. \nFor more information visit gtnt.ca or burntthickettheatre.com

SUMMARY:Live Five #3 - The Wives. The Concubines. The Ritual.
DESCRIPTION:The 3rd Show of Live Five's 22nd Season\n\nThe Wives. The Concubines. The Ritual.\nBy Peace Akintade\n  \nProduced by So.Glad Arts\nJanuary 8th - 18th\, 2026\n  \n\n\nThe Wives. The Concubines. The Ritual. is a three-act dark romanticism that tells the story of five of King Solomon's three hundred concubines\, left behind during his extended campaign\, overthrowing their oppressive existence through Lilith's ritual\, and transforming their harem into a sanctuary of freedom and forbidden desire. \nSabra\, Kalila\, Ereni\, Ziva\, and Naima embody a metaphor of queerness\, rebellion\, and Sapphic exploration challenging the prescribed roles imposed upon them by their marriage alliance with Solomon. Inspired 1 Kings 11:1-8\, the play reimagines the biblical narrative of Solomon's foreign concubines "turning his heart away\," not as a tale of idolatry and condemnation\, but as a bold reclamation of love and identity. Through whispered conversations and clandestine touches\, they explore the forbidden: sapphic desire\, the power of shared vulnerability\, and the possibility of a life beyond their imposed roles. \nRun time: 2 hours\, 30 minutes (including a 15 minute intermission) \n\nPerformance Dates:\n\nJanuary 8th\, 2026 at 7:30pm (PWYC Preview)\nJanuary 9th \, 2026 at 7:30pm (Opening)\nJanuary 10th\, 2026 at 7:30pm (Queer Night Out)\nJanuary 11th\, 2026 at 2:00pm\nJanuary 15th\, 2026 at 7:30pm\nJanuary 16th \, 2026 at 7:30pm\nJanuary 17th\, 2026 at 7:30pm (Black (and Brown) Out Night)\nJanuary 18th\, 2026 at 2:00pm\n\n\nCommunity Events:\nQUEER NIGHT OUT - January 10\, 2026  \nQueer Night Out at the Theatre is an exclusive evening dedicated to the queer community\, celebrating a queer story created by Peace Akintade and brought to life by queer artists. SUMMARY:Gil & Wil with Kasia Leigh Leonard
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin Gil & Wil and Kasia Leigh Leonard for a night of stories and songs\, as we celebrate the hometown release of "A Siren's Tale - EP"\n  \nGil & Wil is a femme-driven country-ish duo based out of Saskatoon\, Saskatchewan\, made up of members Holly Gilroy (she/her) & Aiden McRorie Wilson (she/her). The influence from prairie roots is heavily audible throughout the variety of western\, bluegrass\, folk\, and old-time tunes each setlist holds. Bringing spice-filled original songs to the stage alongside well-placed classics\, the two seamlessly blend their voices to create “harmonies so tight and in-tune that it puts the rest of the world to shame\,” (NSMZ\, 2024). Gil & Wil have been lucky to collaborate with many first-rate musician friends since their inception in 2022\, and have opened for artists including Wolf Willow\, Mariel Buckley\, Amy Nelson\, and The Barrelmen. Noted by many as an up-and-coming group to watch in Saskatchewan\, the duo are proud to release their first EP\, A Siren’s Tale\, produced by Rec Hall Studios (Saskatoon\, SK) in 2025. Joining the two onstage is Regina-based violin and fiddle virtuoso Karley Parovsky. Karley is a composer/arranger\, teacher\, and instrumentalist who plays with the likes of Belle Plaine\, Wolf Willow\, Jeffrey Straker\, and more. \n  \nKasia Leigh Leonard - Someone once told Kasia that her unique style made her the ‘Quentin Tarantino of music.’ While Leonard may not write and star in blockbuster movies\, she certainly has a knack for writing and performing witty and original music. With her single ‘Love Song #1’\, she was chosen as one of five young songwriters to receive a songwriting award presented by SOCAN and SIRIUS XM and was the only recipient West of Ontario. Her definitive style brings together elements of Piedmont blues style fingerpicking\, Folk/Rock\, Jazz\, and western swing.

SUMMARY:Paper Wheat
DESCRIPTION:Paper Wheat  by 25th Street Theatre\nWay back in 1977 an enthusiastic group of young Saskatchewan theatre artists\, working at 25 th Street Theatre\, went out into rural communities to do research. They ended up creating PAPER WHEAT\, which explored the stories of the early homesteaders in our province and the creation of the once-mighty\, farmer owned\, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool. It was\, perhaps\, the first truly Saskatchewan theatre – created collectively\, telling our own stories\, in our own language\, and presented in a simple\, down to earth\, make-do-with-what-you-have kind of aesthetic. It took the country by storm and put us on the theatrical map. It also had a huge influence on me and my generation of Saskatchewan theatre atrtists. \n30 years ago Dancing Sky Theatre inherited the mantle of that kind of work – new\nSaskatchewan plays\, rooted in rural culture\, telling our own stories in our own way.\nWe are now beyond excited to go back and re-visit the play that started it all\, in our own\ninimitable way. Come and celebrate and reflect with us as Dancing Sky re-visits and re-creates the one and only\, mythic PAPER WHEAT. \nDancing Sky Theatre is located in the village of Meacham\, SK – just a 50 minute drive east of Saskatoon. Harvest Hall houses the intimate theatre and dining-room where you are able to enjoy a three course\, home cooked meal before performances Friday thru Sunday. For more on Dancing Sky visit their website at dancingskytheatre.com. \nReserve tickets for the show only\, or the show and meal. \nIn the Dining Room: \n\nDancing Sky Theatre offers you a fully licenced dining-room and tables that seat up to eight people. Enjoy full table service of a three course meal created especially for each show by our Chef Ernie Kurz.  For the menu link to Dancing Sky here. \nReservations are required for the dining-room. \nYou must alert us to vegetarian or allergy concerns when you make reservations. As much as we would like to\, we are not able to make last minute substitutions. (You will be asked for this information near the end of your on-line payment.) \nBe sure to bring cash or a credit card for the bar as we DO NOT have debit services.\n\nNOTE - Due to weather and construction we encourage you to check the highway hotline for any travel delays.
