SUMMARY:Hand to God
DESCRIPTION:  \nProduced by \nPpl r Ppl Productions\nThe 2nd Show of the Live Five Season\nWritten by Robert Askins \n  \n\n\nIn the tiny\, conservative town of Cypress\, Texas\, the shy\, mild-mannered Jason is just trying to be a good son. When he joins his mother Margery's Christian Puppet Ministry at the local church\, Jason discovers a burgeoning talent for puppetry\, and it seems like things after his father's sudden death might just turn out okay. \nTyrone the puppet\, though\, has other plans. As the foul-mouthed\, independent\, and devilishly funny Tyrone grows in strength\, Jason's complex relationships with the school bully\, the girl-next-door\, and most importantly\, his mother\, are thrown into upheaval. \nAn irreverent\, occasionally shocking\, and perpetually hysterical romp to hell and back\, Hand To God is an exploration of the ideas of faith\, morality\, and human nature that will leave audiences rolling in the aisles. \n\n\n  \nContent Warning\n\n\nHand to God is rated R for rude\, raunchy\, and riotously funny content.   Ages 12+\, dark religious humour\, foul language\, and sexual violence. \n\n\n  \n \nThe producing company is encouraging everyone to wear face masks while in the theatre. \n  \nPpl r Ppl Productions is about.. PEOPLE. It's about telling stories that invite audiences to see things from a perspective somewhere outside their own backyards. We do our best to bring something fresh to Saskatoon's theatre scene\, and we choose to produce works that we find exciting and engaging. We believe that something magical happens when the lights start to dim\, the actors take their places\, and the audience fastens their seatbelts.. Ppl r Ppl is proud to be celebrating their sixth season by participating in the Live Five Season with a show that's never been done here in Saskatoon!

SUMMARY:Third Time's A Charm
DESCRIPTION:All profits from this show will be donated to the Red Cross Ukraine Humanitarian Crisis Appeal.\nclick here to go directly to Red Cross\n  \n"Rhonda's songs bring me back to the strength and beauty ever present in prairie skyline with her evocative lyrics\, and effortlessly graceful voice."  Christine Baxter of Sweet Santa Fe Music (Comox\, B.C.) \n  \nA singer songwriter from the Saskatoon area\, Rhonda is unabashedly influenced by the beauty of the prairie around her.  This is reflected in the many songs she writes and sings. \n  \nGallant-Morari has released two albums and several singles.  Her first album 'Dance against the Wind' (2014) centres around the cycles of everyday life and personal experience. Her more recent EP 'Star Drift' dropped in September of 2020.  It is a mixture of genres involving three of Saskatchewan's finest producers: Bart McKay\, Brad Prosko and Ross Nykiforuk.  There is a taste of folk\, jazz\, gospel and a little country. \n  \nReleasing new music during the height of the Pandemic has been challenging. Having to cancel the original release concert in 2020\, and then a second show last fall\, Rhonda is gathering the band together once more\, as third time’s a charm! Together\, they will play songs from the newest album\, a few older tunes\, some covers\, & new songs created in isolation.  They will also perform her latest single\, “Leave” which has a March release date. \n  \nJoining her on stage are friends Matt Bender on bass and vocals\, Ken Pizurny on keys\, accordion and vocals\, Greg Kryworuchka on guitar\, violin and vocals and Jeff Morari on drums.  Nothing beats the intimacy of playing for a live audience! Rhonda and the band are excited to finally be able to share this evening of song and camaraderie at the Refinery! A live-on-stage stream also available. \nphoto Karen Pidskalny @ Red Chair Studio

SUMMARY:Pandemics\, Pratfalls & Prayers
DESCRIPTION:Produced by \nDancing Sky Theatre\n  \n  \nWe have all just shared a momentous and world changing 18 months\, going through the first worldwide pandemic of our lifetimes. It has had a huge effect upon all of us. We seem to be making good progress “sticking it to COVID” through the wonders of science and the power of mass action. Now seems like a good time to start “sticking it to COVID” through the magic and power of The Arts. \nPandemics\, Pratfalls and Prayers is a response to our rapidly changing and challenging times\, dominated by the COVID virus. It is a chance to reflect on what has happened\, and a chance for us to cheer and boo at the events we have endured. It is also an opportunity to reflect collectively on how it has changed us. What have we lost? What have we learned? What have we achieved? Simple pleasures that we always took for granted were suddenly taken away. Connections that we relied upon were strained and even broken. We have also proven what we can do as a species if we really pull together and genuinely commit to mass action. We have responded to a global crisis like never before – which means we can do it again if we truly want to. \nDancing Sky has chosen to go on a new adventure\, creating a large-scale outdoor piece to be performed in our lovely new amphitheatre. We will use theatre magic\, music\, masks\, humour and ritual to create an event that will bring us back together to share space and experience. The show will be aimed at the whole family so that you can come with your loved ones and your friends to rebuild connections and community. \n  \nThe performance will last about 90 minutes with an intermission.  A picnic meal can be pre-ordered when you reserve your tickets.  Our bar will be open before the show and at intermission. \nYou will be outside in our amphitheatre so dress for the weather.  Bring a cushion or blanket if you like. \n  \nNOTE - Highway 5 and 16 are under construction between Meacham and Saskatoon so please check the highway hotline and plan route accordingly. \nvisit Dancing Sky's website

SUMMARY:Rhonda Gallant-Morari - LIVE ON STAGE
DESCRIPTION:Out of caution for everyone's health this concert has been CANCELLED. \nSo raincheck until we can get together and celebrate the music.\n  \nRhonda Gallant-Morari\na singer songwriter from the Saskatoon area is unabashedly influenced by the beauty of the prairie around her.  This is reflected in the many songs she writes and sings. \n  \n"Rhonda's songs bring me back to the strength and beauty ever present in prairie skyline with her evocative lyrics\, and effortlessly graceful voice."  Christine Baxter of Sweet Santa Fe Music (Comox\, B.C.) \n  \nRhonda has released two albums and several singles.  Her first album 'Dance against the Wind' (2014) centers around the cycles of everyday life and personal experience. Her newest EP 'Star Drift' dropped in September of 2020.  It is a mixture of genres involving three of Saskatchewan's finest producers.  Bart McKay\, Brad Prosko and Ross Nykiforuk.  There is a taste of folk\, jazz\, gospel and a little country. \nReleasing new music during the height of the Pandemic has been challenging.  Having to cancel the original release concert\, Rhonda is gathering the band together for a September performance.  She will include songs from the newest album\, a few older tunes\, some covers\, songs from isolation and a new upcoming single called 'Leave'. Joining her on stage will be Matt Bender on bass and vocals\, Ken Pizurny on keys\, accordion and vocals\, Greg Kryworuchka on guitar\, violin and vocals and Jeff Morari on drums.  Nothing beats the intimacy of playing for a live audience.  Rhonda and the crew are really looking forward to this evening of song and camaraderie! \n  \na word about Covid\nWith the instability of Covid 19 and Variants in mind\, we are asking that people wear masks while in the building. Our measured approach to re-opening our facilities is guided by our ongoing concern for the comfort\, safety and well-being of our community.  We look forward to sharing a safe and creative space.

SUMMARY:Fireside Stories II
DESCRIPTION:Produced by \nDancing Sky Theatre\n  \n  \nDancing Sky Theatre in Meacham is thrilled to be bringing you a second installment of Fireside Stories. Last fall we found a way for us to gather together\, and safely share stories again in this strange new COVID world. We built a beautiful outdoor amphitheatre that looks out across the prairie\, allowing 30 people to safely get together to listen to stories of rural life and landscape. Last fall’s event was so popular that we are bringing you a second version this spring. \n  \nFour professional storytellers will share their reflections on rural life and history in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon institution Kent Allen will share a personal story of how his family came to settle in this beautiful province. We will be exploring the boundaries of storytelling through movement and dance by partnering with Jackie Latendresse and her wonderful Free Flow Dance Company\, including dancers Mitchell Larsen and Taylor Zeller. We will also be sharing the amazing talent of Anna Bekolay who will be entrancing you with her magical vocal and musical skills. \n  \nLike last fall\, you will enjoy an evening of outdoor entertainment in our spectacular rural setting and experience the ancient power of gathering together to share our stories. \nPerformance will last about 75 minutes with no intermission. \n  \n  \nTheatre in Covid Times\nDue to current COVID restrictions we are unable to offer you food or drink this time around\, but we will bring that option back as soon as we are all vaccinated\, and communities can assemble safely. \nThe current Saskatchewan Health Authority Restrictions will be followed.  Masks are required.  The contact information you provided when purchasing tickets will be used for contact tracing if necessary. \nPlease\, self monitor and do not attend if:  you have recently traveled outside of Saskatchewan or have been in contact with someone who has; you are showing symptoms of illness or have been in contact with someone who has been ill. \nShould you need to cancel\, tickets can be refunded ($2 processing fee) \n  \nNOTE - Highway 5 is under major construction between Meacham and Saskatoon the next couple years so please check highway hotline and plan route accordingly. \nvisit Dancing Sky's website

SUMMARY:The Art Of War
DESCRIPTION:A New Play by Yvette Nolan\nDirector's Message \nMaking a play during a global pandemic about making art during a war has been illuminating\, inspiring\, and nourishing.  The artists have had to grapple with why we would risk our lives and adapt our craft to come to the room every day and tell a story.  What could be so important? \nWe have spent the last three weeks talking about art\, about the war artists who made art under the most punishing conditions\, to try and achieve some understanding of what they were seeing\, what we were doing overseas.  As Magda says in the play\, "the work reflects only the human spirit\, attempting to speak of something larger than itself." \nI am sorry that we are not able to share this production with audiences this go round.  As I write this\, COVID cases are spiking in Saskatchewan\, British Columbia has just gone into a circuit breaker lockdown\, and a key scientific advisor has declared that the pandemic is now completely our of control in Ontario. \nBut when we have done our private preview\, opening\, and closing this weekend\, we will package up the set and props and costumes and store them carefully\, in anticipation of the day when we can sit together in a theatre and celebrate the human spirit. \nYvette Nolan \nYou can see the full program for the production:  Art of War Digital V1 \n  \n
