Presented by

Dr. Roberta McKay and Elmer Brenner and in partnership with Common Weal Community Arts

See the award winning documentary The Landfill Harmonic.  Following the documentary  Favio Chavez, director of the Recycled Orchestra, will talk and introduce members of the orchestra who will play their instruments made  of garbage, along with the South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra. Hear how a small grass roots movement to teach kids music created hope and changed a community.

School students are participating by examining and discussing social justice issues and interpreting the issues through art.  Artists have created art out of garbage and recycled materials. The entire project, over the course of this past year has reached out to the community to come on board to support the importance of the arts as a change agent on the path to reconciliation and to a stronger more viable community.
